Commercial Products

In the past two years, we have brought to market two major chemical technologies, the large-scale production of fullerenes (in partnership with Frontier Carbon Corporation) and our Direct Oxidation sulfur recovery process (in partnership with M-I SulfaTreat). In addition, TDA sells automated catalyst-testing equipment through our Automated Equipment Division, and this summer our conducting polymers went on sale through the Sigma-Aldrich Electronic Chemicals Catalogue. TDA also has developed additional processes available for licensing.

Fullerenes

TDA started developing combustion based processes for producing fullerenes in 1991. In 2001 we partnered with Frontier Carbon Corp to scale up the process to the multi-ton level. Frontier is now producing 40 tons per year of fullerenes using reactors designed, built and licensed by TDA. The fullerene products are sold under the nanomTM product line: nanom mix (C60/C70/higher fullerenes), nanom purple (purified C60) and nanomTM black (fullerenic soot).

Direct Oxidation

Our Direct Oxidation process catalytically converts hydrogen sulfide to elemental sulfur at 300-500˚F. The process was originally developed under DOE SBIR funding and then demonstrated at Whiting Petroleum’s Sable San Andreas Gas Plant with support from the DOE and GTI.

Conducting Polymers

TDA’s intrinsically conducting polymers are on sale through Sigma-Aldrich. TDA’s polymers are based on the Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) core developed by Bayer, but are easily processible and compatible with a wide variety of device manufacturing processes because they are soluble in organic solvents. TDA introduced two families of product, the  Oligotron™ line of printable (polymerizable) oligomers and the Aedotron™ line of processible, transparent, conducting polymers. More.

Automated Systems

As an outgrowth of expertise developed on our very first project, TDA’s Automated Systems Division has long sold automated catalyst testing equipment (and other specialized automated laboratory equipment) to large chemical companies and national laboratories. This equipment provides fully automated control and data handling, as well as redundant safety features.
