Research
Overview
TDA’s staff of
65 develops advanced materials and the processes that make and use them, and
a variety of engineered components.
Advanced material
research includes:
- Catalysts
and catalytic processes to remove pollutants, improve the efficiency of chemical
and power generation processes or protect against chemical warfare agents.
- Sorbents
and sorbent based processes that prevent pollution or improve the efficiency
of electrical generation systems, improve the efficiency of hydrogen and syngas
generation, or improve the efficiency of chemical manufacturing.
- Polymers
and polymer additives that conduct electricity or ions, or improve the properties
of coatings and bulk polymers.
- Carbons
with nanometer scale structure. TDA is a leader in fullerenes and nanotubes,
including low cost production, separation, and medical applications, and our
carbons with controlled, bimodal pore size distributions are used as high
performance electrodes.
- Ceramics
including fabrication and joining of carbides and production of high purity
doped alumina ceramics.
-
Chemical and Biological Protection of people and property.
