Burn Saver
TDA Research Inc.'s Burn Saver is a body-worn thermal sensor system designed to protect firefighters by continuously monitoring and warning them about dangerous thermal conditions. It specifically aims to prevent the failure of the SCBA facepiece lens, a common point of failure in firefighting gear, by predicting its temperature and the time until it degrades due to heat. Burn Saver uses a patented sensor array to track thermal hazards and integrate heat loads over time, providing early warnings via visual and/or audible alerts.
Personal protective equipment warns firefighters before their SCBA facepieces thermally degrade in order to avoid losing visual clarity.
TDA’s Burn Saver can be mounted to the shoulder strap or helmet and communicate wirelessly to a heads-up-display.
5 thermal sensors use internal software that compares thermal profiles against possible threat levels.
Dangerous detection levels alert the firefighter with a blinking light, an alarm through a radio channel and an indication in the firefighter’s heads-up display.
