Stress-Corrosion Cracking Detection Sensor

Sensors for Stress-Corrosion Cracking Detection

  • A method to detect corrosion in places that are difficult to visually inspect such as under the floorboard on a helicopter.

    • TDA invented a novel SERS based coating additive that can be interrogated in the field to provide a simple, warning of the onset of corrosion beneath paint. The coating additive uses Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) to detect the changes in the coating that signal the onset of corrosion.

    • TDA NDT based on Raman Spectroscopy for corrosion detection.

    • Software designed and programmed by TDA to convert Raman signature into corrosion feedback.

    • For use with a stand off Raman unit (the Pendar X10) for interrogation of corrosion in the floor space of the CH-47 Chinook Helicopter.
