The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization predicts that world food production will need to increase by 70% by 2050. According to the United States Department of Agriculture from 2014 to 2021, the U.S. has lost 13.6 million acres of farmland. To make this dramatically increased production possible, technical innovations in agriculture will be critical.  TDA, with funding from NASA, is developing sensors that measure useful and actionable plant health metrics to drive terrestrial agricultural research and improve crop management.
